In May 2018 I asked Jason to skipper my Maverick 42’ catamaran from Durban up to Vilanculos in Mozambique. My wife and I accompanied him together with one of his crew members. The voyage took us 6 days and Jason was an absolute pleasure to have on board, and as a skipper he was outstanding. From the thorough preparation of the boat prior to departure to the handling of the boat under motor and sail (Sometimes in rough and very windy conditions) Jason was very professional and competent in everything he did. I asked Jason to sail the boat back from Madagascar to Durban in September which he did together with two of his own crew members. Despite some very adverse weather conditions Jason delivered the boat to Durban with no issues. In February of this year I asked Jason to take a prospective buyer out for a sail on “Perfect” and the feedback from the client was very positive.

Jason delivered my new Lagoon 42F from France to Cape Town. I was so happy with his service that I then employed his company to deliver my boat on to the Seychelles. In October 2015 I used Gypsy Yacht Deliveries to deliver my 40ft Maverick catamaran from Abu Dhabi to Cape Town, South Africa. From the beginning of our correspondence I found Jason to be very knowledgeable and informative about the whole delivery process, reassuring me that my boat would be in the best possible hands. He was very knowledgeable about the best route to take to insure the quickest and safest delivery of the boat, being sure to inform me about the threat of piracy en route. After losing my first yacht from capsizing caused by an incompetent crew on its delivery from Seychelles to Abu Dhabi, I hesitantly purchased a new one and began scouring all delivery services around the world for my new delivery team. Of the 5 quotes I received, Gypsey was the lowest and upon reviewing the CV experience of all the most expensive ones, the skippers only had around 50,000nm whereas Gypsey had over 200,000nm. From the first time we spoke, Jason offered me the details of a South African insurance company that halved that of my insurance company in France. I also needed a crew within a week and he was able to offer me a very experienced crew within the time. He also helped me to find very low cost flights to get the crew out to Seychelles. Once the crew arrived they did a full survey of the boat and gave me day to day feedback as to what had to be fixed, the most cost effective way to do so and even did some of the repairs themselves. Once departed, Jason gave me constant reports on progress and it even arrived ahead of schedule. Upon meeting the crew, the boat was in immaculate condition and the crew gave me a full rundown of the ins and outs of the Boat; they were very professional. Jasons communication throughout the process was impeccable and I cannot commend him enough.

I highly recommend Jason. His competence and professionalism is unequaled, and his fantastic personality ensured an experience of a lifetime bringing my yacht from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. He gave me many valuable insights and lessons en route, and I now consider him a friend for life.

I employed Gypsy Yacht Deliveries to bring our new project from Kenya to Cape Town and was super impressed with the service I received.  Jason introduced me to one of his delivery captains, who flew to Kenya with his crew to prepare the yacht for the journey home. Due to work commitments I could not join the crew, but with the level of communications and updates, it was as if I was right there with them. The detailed updates during the voyage were great and I could track them almost in real time.  There were quite a few challenges along the way relating to the pre-owned nature of a second or third owner yacht, all of these challenges were handled professionally and in stride. I joined the crew in Richard’s bay for the last leg of the voyage and was even more impressed with the service in person. They all went above and beyond expectation and after mooring perfectly in challenging Cape Town Gale Force conditions, handed the vessel back over to me only after she was thoroughly cleaned and fresh water washed, bow to stern, inside and out. Jason impressed us on our first meeting.  We decided that he would take on the responsibility of delivering our Leopard 39 from Cape Town to the Caribbean. In the build up to the delivery Jason was supportive and helpful in working through the details required for an Atlantic crossing. He was agile when Covid hit, with departure dates rescheduled 3 times. His judgement of people was evident in the selection of a diligent crew. When a Covid window finally opened and we could set sail, all went very well. Stops on route were all closed which meant a straight sail to St Lucia – not a normal delivery. Zedna was safely delivered to the Caribbean -in good condition, cleaned and ready for use. Jason went the extra mile and did a fantastic job – we would more than recommend his professional services.
